Why do insect's antennae move often? Insect antennae is one pair, two antenna joint in every species of insect's head. It will not only for vibrations( for communication), main purpose is work like nose for smell odours.Pumpkin beetle. Shutterspeed 1/450s and ISO100
Insect antennae has powerful cell for detecting odour, that is called olfactory sensilla. When insects want to find odour, odour molecules make contact with olfactory sensillum, this is tune to recognize that odour, then electrical signals send to the insect's brain.

This process similar to human but more aggressive than human smell sense. Because insects has pair antennae and they can able to smell in stereo. They can find tiny differences in odour.
