 About Blue Banded Bees (Amegilla)

Blue Banded Bees are most beautiful, very active at the same time crazy also. Banded bees Commonly called Amegilla. Now we see fun fact about Banded bees.

1. Amegilla bees has reddish- brown fur on  their thorax, and blue abdomen for blue Banded bees. Banded bees are mostly 3 colors. White, blue, green. These colors are in bee's abdomen. Here mentioned white Banded bees.

2. Amegilla's abdomen seem like Band. See this beautiful texture. One white, one blue,then one white bands. That's why called Banded bees.

3. Amegilla bees are a group of native bee species but they don't produce honey. Amegilla is very important pollinators of crops and plants. 

4. They are mostly attract by blue,lavender color flowers, sometimes white also.

5. Amegilla bees are not aggressive but they can sting for defence. That pain is little and same as honey bee's sting. 

6. After mating, female build their own nest in attract areas. Amegilla Bees are solitary, they don't have colony like honey bees. They make nest in soil, soft sandstone, even in mud bricks also.

7. Female use their jaws to dig burrows (make house method). And small cells are make inside burrows for locate eggs.

8. After fill cell, female bees capped their Borrow by layer of soil. After come out larva from eggs, female search another nest site. 

9. Eggs are hatch during summer season. Banded bees are live for 40 days.

10. Amegilla bees have great role do for earth. That's "Buzz pollination".
